Glaze or semi-permanent dye?

Does glazing or dying your hair with semi-permanent dye permanently change your hair color? I have black hair and I'm dying it a deep but vibrant red. I really like my natural color but I wan to experiment. I dont want it to be permanently gone thoughD= help me please
