Looking for a cartoon from the late 70's early 80's?

I am looking for a old cartoon title I used to watch in the early 80's. It is about a guy who used to hop in his large drill he used to use to drill into the earth and go on adventures. It was along the same quality cartoon as Puff the Magic Dragon. Does anyone remember this I am beginning to think I made this cartoon up in my head.
